Hi Darrell,
I can not access your website, not even form your blogspot link or the link
in RCW. Have you any idea what the problem may be? Yours is
the only site I can't access. Some of your articles are inspiring and the
others are great woodturning tips, especially for beginners like me, so I
would love to be able to take a look at your site.

Thank you,

Tom

Tom
I have tried the site on Explorer 7, Firefox and Opera without problem. On
the other hand, my email to you obviously got through on your regular
address but I got two replies from hotmail that my message to you was
rejected even though it was never sent to a hotmail account, at least not
from my end. I am replying here in case anyone has insights into this. It is
beyond my somewhat limited expertise. By the way folks, thanks for all the
kind words about the web site. It is really a lot of fun.

I see you are with ntl, so am I and I can't get into Darrel's site. If
I log into a remote computer and then to the site I have no problems so
it can't be my computer settings.

A slight correction. Your with Virgin (on the ridiculous) Media.

I used to be able to get to the site, but a few weeks back it stopped. I
assumed that my dynamic IP had changed to one in a range that has been
blocked ?
Just waiting for it to change again and hopefully I will be able to
access the site again.

If I go through an online proxy, slow but accessible.

I am also having problems accessing the site. I'm with Orange, is
everyone who is having problems from the UK?. I have asked a couple
of friends to access the site (unfortunately also on Orange), none of
us can get to the site.

I'm hoping for a solution, somewhere - tried OpenDNS, no luck. Online
proxy as said, was slow.

I am hosting with GoDaddy and have found them great to work with. I will
send a message to them with the problem and see what happens.

access

I can now access your site. The only thing that has changed at my end
is the IP address. On previous attempts to access aroundthewoods I was
on a 84.70.xx.xx and 84.66.xx.xx range of IP's. Today My IP address
is 90.240.xx.xx. I can't be more exact with the IP address (the
xx.xx) because I didn't write them down, I've been checking to see If
I could get one which allowed access to your site.

Even after a quick browse, you have a fantastic site.

Thanks Stuamn. Why would an IP address matter? Anyone know?

Sometime a web master may block a specific if due to the person at that
IP linking direct , harvesting or causing other issues

They can do this in a number of ways
IP
111.222.333.444 will block an individual user
111.222.333. a bigger group
111.222. An even bigger group
111. a massive group

One possibility is that your host has seen a lot of P2P traffic coming
from on of our IP's

111.222.333.444

as these are dynamic the next day it may be from
111.222.333.555 and the day after 111.222.333.666

so the approach to blocking would be everything

111.222.333

which affects a lot more people than the cause

Personally I still cant get to your site, so patiently await my IP
changing

I agree with John, when someone spams or breaches a particular website the admin then has privileges to block the IP range, another person who genuinely want to use the website may also fall in the blocked IP range and may fall in the ban list. But,then one can change the public IP by resetting the modem if it is a dynamic one or request the ISP for a new IP in case of static IP.After the change one can confirm it by using Ip-details.com and then access the particular website
