Bowl with stand
 

I have made a round bottom bowl which sits in a stand
resembling an inverted bowl with the bottom cut out.

When sitting on it's stand it wants to move around too
easily. Need suggestions for what to use in the interface to
minimize this. Felt?

Gerald,
How about 3 little items glued to the stand, say little turned wooden beads
or the like. Three points of contact will make it stable even if the bowl
is warped.

It's not that--it fits perfectly, but two polished surfaces
slip and slide.

How about some of those small, round, clear plastic bumpers you use to
silence cabinet doors. You might be able to relieve them into the base
so that they barely sit proud of the surface. Being clear they might be
almost invisible.

coefficient of friction.

This is going to be as low-tech as it comes. Go to the dollar store,
buy a silicone basting brush. They're useless. Cut off all the
"hairs". Equidistant on the rim of your stand, drill 3 small holes,
just big enough for 1 hair. Stick the little bugger in with a drop of
glue and trim it so it just barely protrudes. even a 1/32 of an inch
is enough. There you have it, 3 little bumpers that will hold your
bowl. These brushes come in a variety of colours so get a few and
match the colour to the wood of the stand if you wish.

I'm going to try the little plastic bumps first, but will
keep that in mind. I have already textured the bowl at the
bottom but can't do it where it meets the base. Thanks.

ISTR that 3M makes a two-sided clear adhesive tape. A couple small spots
of that ought to do the trick. Especially if the small spots are
opposite each on the on the bowl & base.

I'd have to see a picture of it to be sure, but how about a thin bead of
silicone caulk on the bearing surface of the base?
