Is This Normal for Newbies?

When I was a kid a bunch of us would get into marathon
game sessions, playing five, six or seven hours a day
for days on end - monopoly, checkers, chess. In each
case, after two or three days of this I'd start seeing
the world differently. If I saw anything yellow I'd
think of Marvin Gardens, the word railroad would
prompt B&O and Reading. After 50 games of chess
I couldn't see two vertical objects without wondering
what my next move would be.

Well it's happening again. After turning a BUNCH of
magic wands I'm starting to look at everything and
wondering what they'd look like if spun around
various axis (sp?). Combine that with my recent
insights into How to Become a Studio Woodworker
(see rec.woodworking) and titles for an existing
piece pops into my head or a title inspires a turning.

Is this a common thing or should I seek professional
help?

yes, you need professional help, Charlie... you should arrange a consultation
appointment at the nearest lathe accessory dealer immediately...

It's in your blood, Charlie.. didn't you ever look at a piece of wood before
your turning addition and wonder what the grain would look like in a table top
or other project???
IMHO, it beats the hell out of a TV addiction...
