Question. can the supernova II do 1 1/2 x 8 tpi ?

Is there an adapter available for Oneway or Spernova II chucks that supports
1 1/2 x 8 tpi.

Thank you, Ed

Looks like Teknatool support direct threading only in that size:

Would a Stronghold insert work for you?

Why don't you look at www.oneway.ca and find out?

I have a 1 1/2" spindle @ 6TPI and there are few adaptors due to the
diameter (firstly) and in my case then the 6TPI. I think it is
necessary to have the thread cut into the chuck. The downside of this
is that you will have to have a special engineering job done should
you ever want to use that chuck on any other spindle - no "commercial"
adaptor would be available to reduce from yoru 1 1/2" x 8TPI to a
smaller size.

Another option, if you don't have he Supernova, is to check sources in
the UK. I think I noticed some companies providing this size adaptor
there.

You could also check Vicmarc, but it would need to be the larger
chuck, again because of the 1 1/2" diameter.

Good luck,
Alan

Hi there,

I know that Sorby make an adapter for a nova chuck with an 11/2" by 6
tpi thread. I bought one so i could use my old nova chuck. Cost arround
=8035 at the time. They may also make one for 11/2" by 8. The 6tpi one
is the common pitch for that size of shaft in the UK and 8tpi in the
USA
