Six months ago at the office a joiner installed wooden floorboards and we
decided to sand/varnish rather than carpet. The boards have all had 2 coats of Wickes quick drying clear floor varnish and do appear to be sealed, as they don't absorb water. The problem is, when dirt gets between the boards or where the floor has had a few knocks, dirt is accumulating and it is impossible to remove it. Can anyone suggest any ways to keep it clean the floor and prevent it happening again? Thanks Alex -- Alex Harris Remove NEWS to reply |

Fill the gaps in the floor boards with natural wood colour frame sealant ( in one of those tubes that goes in a squeezy gun ). You will need to put down masking tape on either side of each gap to get a smooth result: check the masking tape first on an out-of-the-way patch of floor to check that it doesn't pull off the varnish when being removed. Don't know about the knocks, I used Wickes antique pine floor varnish, and where that has been knocked I get the opposite effect, i.e. the wood shows through lighter. Andy. |

It is quite a large area, does anyone have any other ideas than using
sealant? Thanks Alex |
