Default 19m stainless/chrome-on-brass for shower rail?

All,

A couple of years back, when I redid a bathroom, I rather daftly used the
nearest 19mm chrome tube for the shower rail - it's turned out to be
chrome-on-mild steel, with predictable results.

Anybody know of a source for stainless or chrome-on-brass?

None of the sheds or the usual online boys seem to have it, unless I'm
missing something.

Almost any steel stockist will supply you with 19mm stainless tube.
Because of the size, local is desireable. Look in yell for steel.

BES have 3/4" od stainless in 3m lengths which should suit, expensive at
22.62+vat, but would be my choice, see:

As Grunff suggested local ss supplier may be cheaper. Watch for welded
construction if bending.

You could always use 22mm chromed copper plumbing pipe, if the diameter
isn't critical. That shouldn't be too difficult to find, although 15mm would
probably be easier.

Why not 22mm stainless pipe?

I'm sure you could, it's just that chromed copper pipe can be found even in
DIY shops, rather than specialist metal merchants.

Well, my local Homebase stocks 22mm stainless pipe right next to the copper.

Personally, I prefer chromed to stainless. It just seems to be smoother and
more mirror-like.

You can polish up the stainless relatively easily, to mirror finish.
Especially before it's bent, if you just attatch it to a drill (supported)
and polish while rotating.
