Default moving a 'lecy meter 18inches

hey up all, i have an old wylex CU sans RCD which id like to change to a MCB
type with internal RCD and move the whole thing 18 inches to the left of its
current location so that its under the stairs. the wiring was renewed by
the previous owner before i bought the house 6 years ago, i had the
electrical safety tested by an electrician at the time and he said it is
within the (then)current regs as long as there was at least one RCD
protected outlet which there was, in the garage. id like to change the old
CU unit with a modern one and also move it as stated, but have the problem
of extending the T&Es coming down the wall under the plaster...how would i
go about doing this? also i have 6 fuses atm which are; upstairs lights,
downstairs lights, upstairs sockets, downstairs sockets, shower and
cooker...but id like to extend the system to enable me to run some SWA down
to the garage...any advice on what items i should be looking for?

ta muchly

Steve
