Kitchen Carcasses - Looking for a supplier

Morning all,

I wish to replace my existing 18mm kitchen units. I am looking to find a
source of 18mm Kitchen Carcasses, with adjustable legs,(in the UK) that I
can install, and then select the doors from elswhere.

Ideally I would also like to select the colour (internal and external) of
the Carcasss so that I do not have to have that "clinical brilliant white"
inside that a lot of units from MFi, B&Q and Ikea have.

I am looking for "reasonable" quality

You can reply direct to me at

Many Thanks

I read that as "Chicken" carcasses ... must go to 4 Sight ...

I like white interiors because they make it easy to see the contents.

Where's 4 Sight's phone number ...

MFI sell display cabinets for glass doors that are coloured throughout,
although there might not be a large choice of colours beyond white or
woodgrain effect.

Christian.

I looked at the B&Q carcasses in a bit more detail recently, apparently
they all now come with a printed (mottled?) pattern inside to "brand"
them as B&Q. Until I saw this I was all set to buy a B&Q kitchen but to
me it just looks naff, apparently others like it!

Hi Don

There are many kitchen cabinet makers throughout the uk, but I would
imagine they don't sell direct to the public.

White carcusses, tend to be associated with the diy stores you mention
and are often 15mm/16mm as oppose to the 18mm carcusses your are
looking for.

A really popular look at the moment is to have cabinets colour matched
with the doors and this is where the cabinet makers come in as they
basically custom build a kitchen to your specification. They buy the
doors in from another manufacture, be they solid wood, veneer or
vinly wrapped and will even add tandem drawer boxes and blum motion
fittings for a really superior kitchen.

However if you really wanted a white interior, you would need custom
end panels for the cabinets that are exposed. Again a manufacturer
could do this for you.

If you let me know what part of the country you live in I will see if
I can identify a supplier for you.

Regards Paul

So what the poster needs is carcasses matched to white doors. Arena
kitchens supply kitchens like this and may be willing to sell carcasse
only.

Someone round here recommended arena kitchens recently. Can't
remember the url, but a google search should throw it up easily
enough. They seemed to have some good stuff. Not sure what their
prices are like (Mind you, if they're in the same league as Hombase's
price on a tall unit, I think i'll go and buy some blockboard!).

Arena didnt work out overly cheap, MFIs prices were similar thats even after
the salesman at MFI told me not to buy now as the prices went up yesterday
in line for the sale in January, so maybe nows not the best time to buy a
kitchen

The majority of high street diy stores sell cabinets that are either
white or coffee bean (mottled) interior. They supply replacement end
panels for those cabinets on show and a variety of doors.

Kitchen manufacturers and distributors however tend to have a higher
spec. 18mm cabinets (some with 18mm solid backs. The cabinets are
usually colour matched with the door (internal and external) and alot
of manufacturers are supplying high quality blum motion fittings.

There are plenty of cabinet makers around but they will probably only
deal direct with the trade.

Whereabouts are you based. You can drop me an email at
and I will see if I can put you in touch
with a supplier.

but you're not comparing like with like. Arena are supplying the same
kitchens John Lewis sell as 'Jonelle' at a massively higher price than
MFI. Both the guy who fitted our kitchen and the fitters who fitted
one for a friend said they were the best made kitchens they had ever
worked with - all 18mm consturction (including solid tops), thick
backs, blumotion drawers with some internal divider fittings, 2
shelves inside (rather than the usual 1) etc etc.

That said you can definitely get cheaper.
