relacing pendant light fitting
Hello all,
I'm replacing a pendant light fitting, unfortunately the switch cable is not marked. Also, the two wires going to the light bulb are also not marked. Is there a way to work out which of the black wires is the switch cable? Thanks Tony Lennard |

one of the black wires should have a red sleeve (bit of red insulating
tape) - if so, that's the switch line. If not, Is the old fitting still connected? Are there 2 or 3 wires going in to the fitting? Let us know first. strung together this: Hello all, I'm replacing a pendant light fitting, unfortunately the switch cable is not marked. Also, the two wires going to the light bulb are also not marked. Is there a way to work out which of the black wires is the switch cable? If the inside of the pendant has; 1 black cable connected to the brown flex 3 reds connected in the middle in 'loop' 2 blacks connected to the blue flex Then the single black is the switch and the two blacks are the neutrals, most probably. If it's anything different you will have to get a tester out and check, with the light switched on, which black is live, and which isn't in respect to earth. -- SJW A.C.S. Ltd. |
