Maybe - it all depends what caused it. There are several sorts of
stain, some of them are almost irremovable. Try some light planing
first, if possible.

Several sorts. Hypochlorite bleaches like Domestos - not much use.

Oxalic acid (Barkeeper's Friend, Patio Deck Cleaner) - good for
tannates, such as iron stain or most stains on oak or chestnut.

Hydrogen peroxide. - commonly sold as "wood bleach", it's a two bottle
process. Make sure it's fresh stock, as it doesn't keep well. The
first bottle is caustic soda to make the surface alkaline, the second
is the strong peroxide. Don't mix them before use. Works best on the
natural colour of the timber, or on black moulds.


Try planing first.
If it's not obviously oak or iron, then go for the peroxide bleaches.
