Our nearest Morrisons seems to be full of brain dead morons.
Considering its location, however, this probably isn't surprising...

The odd thing, given the supposed target customer, is that if we do
venture there, we find it is more expensive that Sainsers, although
slightly cheaper than ASDA.
Maybe it's just the things we buy...

Now I'll draw the line at Aldi (it's horrid) but I've never classed
Morrisons and Safeway as pikey shops?
Not posh enough to goto Sainsburys even if there was one. ;-)

Guess that makes me a pikey.

Aldi is an amazing place to shop. Stuff like bread and milk is that cheap
you wonder what the catch is, taste it and find out
We've got a Lidl as well, just looked like an Aldi clone when I walked
through it, didn't even bother to buy anything. Morrisons is just a waiting
room for the funeral directors by daytime, clumps of depressed looking old
folk standing in big groups in strategic positions blocking the good aisles,
by night it turns into a haven for 20 and 30 something couples pushing kids
round in trollies looking for the latest trendy breakfast cereal. Safeway is
an odd one, it appears to have 2 shift patterns, before 6PM all the
checkouts are fully manned by 60 year old women, there husbands stacking the
shelves but after that time they all morph into teenagers and shut all bar 2
tills and the fag/lottery counter.

Me? I buy my groceries at a variety of mini marts and corner shops as and
when I remember I need something.

Its a term wrongly used to describe all gypsies. My understanding is that
they are gypsies that have disgraced their clan in some way and have been
outcast from the clan, true gypsies loath them. At one time gypsies were
very well thought of in the southern counties. They were all skilled in some
craft, from rat catcher to carriage builders.. They were employed by local
farmers for there skills in such things as sharpening tools, vermin control
etc., and went back year after year. True gypsies were/are hardworking
generous people.

I bought one the first time it was offered....

It is good value and works well. The output is reasonable for most
jobs, but obviously not upto continuous spraying.

The compressor output connector, the connector on the £20 accessory
pack and the nailer are not UK standard ones, but a European standard.
They look quite similar, but they are not the same.... So if you need
more you will need to go to a pnuematic specialist such a Thorite.
Machine Mart do not stock them. They can be easily changed to the UK
standard, but is it worth it if you only us them in isolation at home.

The nailer is for thin brads upto 50mm long, good for furniture and
similar light work. The compressor includes a pressure adjustment which
it possible to adjust how deep the brads penetrate the wood (or the
side of your skull).

You mean you *can* taste it?

I got the impression that the prices were so low because the taste of
the "food" had been sold separately elsewhere.

Claimed air intake (?) is 7.4 m^3/h.

That's (7.4 * 1000 / 60) = 123 litres/min, or 3.7 cubic feet per min.

Apart from nailers (used intermittently) most air tools require at least
4.5 ft^3/min whilst paint sprayers need 6.5 to 7 ft^3/min.

Still, I'm sure a compressor on wheels would impress the neighbours,
even if it might have trouble detaching the skin from a rice pudding.

I must be a pikey then as I shop at Aldi occassionally, and Lidl more
often as it is closer. I would shop at Morrisons if one was close.
Quite simply, I like paying less for my groceries, and in the case of
Lidl and Alsi, I enjoy the range of German foods on offer.
I must be the only private boarding school, officers daughter pikey
around eh?
Perhaps this upbringing and education inhibited any of the silly
snobbery and name calling exhibited by those all too eager to
demonstrate their good taste and selectivity by running down those who
choose to shop where they do.

Call me Pikey Pete if you will, but SWMBO and I shop regularly at Lidl
(and at Lidl and Aldi when in the Netherlands).
Being German shops, they work on the most popular principle the pile
it high and sell it cheap. It seems that the average hausfrau prefers to
buy on price.

Overheard in our nearest Lidl: Ooh, I'm not buying that, it's German!

Many Lidl food products are excellent quality and incredible value for
money. Tinned salmon/herring/mackerel fillets in a variety of oils and
sauces, dark (74%) chocolate, ice cream, frozen chips, coleslaw, fruit
juice, chicken nuggets (whole pieces, not reconstituted shredded stuff),
tasty German pilsener, mineral water, to name but several.

Guten Appetit!
