Painting freshly mortared brickwork

I'm having some spalled bricks removed from the chimney stack and they
will be replaced with engineering bricks.

The stack is painted to match the rest of the house. How soon after
the bricks have been put back in is it safe to repaint and is any
special attention needed for the painting of the engineering bricks?

I have some partly used masonry paint, some from Wickes and some is
Dulux Weathershield.

Why ever wait to finish a job before starting the next?

If there is an evaporation route for the bricks and mortar via the
chimney flue, just paint away

But Marxism is the crack cocaine.
