Another annoyance is that the machines are flattening the tactile dots on
the tenners, which can eventually mean you have no idea what they are
without measuring them or using a phobile mone app, which at the moment don'
tread the 20s.

Even longer ago, a NatWest machine regularly gave me ten £1 notes in a
paper packet. And they posted the card back to me for re-use.

That must have been a long time back. I remember an American friend
whose son wanted some English coins and a pound note for his school
'show and tell' asking if I could help. At the time the pound notes
were already uncommon in change etc. but, fortunately, I had one in the

Barclays have 'ASD' machines inside their branches that let you choose
which denomination notes you want (as well as doing other things like
paying in cheques). I use cards to buy things mostly, but occasionally
draw out £50 in £5s.
