Its amazing how good Blair was at giving people an impression, and his
success at rewriting history

It's mazing how people think that the 'global finacial crisis' had no
political causes.

Blair inherited a decent economy and Brown managed not to wreck it
completely, but in the second term, Blair got hs way and did.

Oh Brown was doing a fair job but covering up by selling the gold
reserves and then raiding both private and state pension pots.

He also stole the Thames Crossing.

I remember when the Thurrock Gazette anounced that the (first)
Dartford Tunnel would be a Toll tunnel but that the toll would
be abolished when the tunnel was paid for.

Of course, there was no M25 in those days so this news was
only of importance at the time to folk living in close
proximity to the tunnel who would be the main users.

Time passed, traffic increased, so a second tunnel was needed
and what we now know as the M25 was nearing completion.

Traffic increased and a 4-lane bridge was built.

Finally, it was announced that the debt incurred by the three
crossings was close to being paid off in full.

That original promise had ben passed down to successive
generations - I was 18 when the first tunnel opened - and
everybody waited for the day that the toll would be abolished.

Brown, however, decided to steal the crossing and keep the
toll proceeds but, as a paliative, introduced a special low
rate for residents of Thurrock and Dartford.

It and its approach roads must be the only bbit of trunk road
in the UK which never cost the taxpayer a single penny to
build!
