Now that, I suppose, is the real reason they want a "frictionless"

So, post no deal Brexit, they are ****ed.

If at the moment if for example 100 containers go Ireland -UK -Continent
and in future they are redirected to Ireland - Continent how come they
are going to need more room , do the containers double in size or
something?

Because, ****-fer-brains, they send their stuff by road container to Belfast.
Their own ports are small.
Especially the ones linked to the EUSSR.
As are the French ports facing them.

Stuff goes Dover/Calais via the Chunnel mostly I 'spect.

If you pals idea to block the landbridge took place all they would have to
do is switch the containers to a feeder container ship, a large proportion
of goods already goes to the continent that way anyway.

Left Waterford this morning bound for Rotterdam , Thats a small port isnt
it.sometimes they will go to Le Havre ,thats hardly a small port either .

She can carry about 850 TEU which is a lot less than the big ones from the
Far East but heck a of a lot more than you fit on the back of lorries on a
ro ro ferry and she shuttles back and forth regularly and there are lots
more doing it.

What, you think there is only one and like Plastic Coffee cups they are
single use,
They sail back and forth regularly.
That one Port handles 45,000 TEUs a year.
Closing the UK landbridge could easily be circumvented.
The best thing about that it might make their ****ing travellers find it
harder to get here.
That alone would be worth it.

No good for perishables, I'm afraid. Ireland's chief export is of course
the potato - and an awful lot of Irish spuds are going to go off during a
long and choppy sea crossing, should they be forced to avoid going
through England.

I doubt there are enough Irish on here for it really to be worth trolling
any to get them irritated, but setting that aside why should Irish spuds be
any more delicate than those often seen in UK supermarkets that have been
shipped in from Egypt and other African countries. I thought one of the
advantages of being out of the EU was being able to source food from non EU
markets. Now you are saying perishable foodstuffs go off on long sea
crossings. Better stay in the EU then and keep the crossings short as
possible such as UK -France.
Any how spuds are not difficult to store,kept right they keep for months.
They arent that perishable like a soft fruit would be.

Potatoes can be stored up to 6 months at least

And are seldom worth exporting.

Ireland exports dairy products mostly, in the food sector.
