New case for car remote key fob

Daughter has a Renault Clio and the thin membrane over the buttons has
eventually fallen away exposing the small buttons on the PCB.

I have ordered a replacement case for £2.50.

Surely there will be no snags.......?

Make sure you get *all* the innards from the old one. Don't cut the key
blade, and check for a tiny chip that may be separate, and not on the PCB.

(I think I read that here, but not sure...)

Hope not. I've just received one for a Nissan
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1821710672...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

My mate is bringing this key round later for me to fix, one of the
microswitches has disintegrated as well as the membrane, but in this
kit they are included.

I'll let you know how I get on. I'm a hero in his eyes, he was
convinced he would have to pay £££ for a new key.

I thought of getting the kit with the little micro switches, but they seem
to be working so I will avoid the risk.

I suppose a shop that does laptop and tablet repairs would be a good source
of specialist soldering support though if needed.

I just repaired my mates Nissan key, it was quite straightforward.
Soldering the switches needed a fine bit. No problem for me, but
probebly not a job for a beginner.
