British Gas RC Plus displaying wrong temperature

We have a Worcester Bosch Greenstart Si Compact and British Gas RC Plus
Thermostat. Came to turn on heating tonight and noticed that temperature was
displaying at 23 degrees, where it is currently around 14.5. Took the minus
down to 5 then the plus up to 18 but of course it didnt come on as already
displaying 23 degrees. Tried taking batteries out, tried pressing plus and
minus together for 5 secs to get 'off' but when tried again, thermostat still
saying 23. Does anyone have any experience or similar, or will we need new
unit/ It was only installed on 22 April 2015.

You might or might not get away with just setting it to what it thinks is 30 or so.
