DIYbanter - Repairing French doors

Just got home from the girlfriends were she had a similar problem.

We used Ronseal wood filler that is made specially for this job, I purchased
550 gram tin for £7 + VAT from Seymour Wilsons in Ashton under Lyne (run by
2 brothers) the brother who served me told me that when he used it in his
bathroom at home he mixed the whole tin and it set solid as he was applying
the first scoopful.

Bearing this in mind I made a small batch and my beloved applied the first
scoopful and the remainder set solid on the plastic tin cover that I had
mixed it on, she learnt too work quicker and filled the hole using small
batches.

My beloved was very happy with the result, and if she is happy anybody would
be - she is very demanding on standards of work done - 'if it is done right
it is always right, if it is done wrong it is always wrong'.

She has used copper Hammerite on the pipes that are showing in the utility
room!, for example, and vacuums the dust off the drill as I drill holes in
the wall. Nothing is nailed, she insists on screws or of late 'No Nails'.
