ceiling light problems
I just got a new ceiling light a big old thing with 8 bulbs and a
transformer, after spending some time moving the hole in the ceiling so i could fix the light to a joist, i finally got fitted and when i switch it on it hums quite loudly and flickers, does anyone have any ideas why this is or should i admit defeat and get in a professional. |

Is it powered via an ordinary switch, or a dimmer? If the latter, you could have an incompatibility between the dimmer and the transformer. Otherwise, you may have a bad connection - or it may be incorrectly wired. Take it down, and connect a cable to it with a 13 amp plug on the other end. Plug it into a socket and see whether it still hums and flickers. If it does, the chances are that it is faulty. If it's ok, there's a problem with your ceiling wiring. -- Cheers, Set Square ______ Please reply to newsgroup. Reply address is Black Hole! |

The transformer is either buggered, or the lamps you've fitted are the wrong type, or the whole thing is wired incorrectly. --- http://www.basecuritysystems.no-ip.com Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
