Default MFI Kitchen Worktop - Update

Thanks very much for all the information posted in my recent thread.

I think we may have cracked it J..

I looks like the worktop is either made by Bushboard, or Bushboard do an
incredibly similar worktop, and a local kitchen specialist can get 4m
lengths in 24 hours !!!

Just as an aside, went to one of the larger MFI and spoke with a semi
intelligent older kitchen muppet (sorry specialist) and he told me that this
particular worktop was not exclusive to MFI but could not tell me who made
it because they use several manufacturers, but they can only supply 3m
lengths because their wagons can only accommodate 3m lengths. Um. sounds
complete BS to me. so I will get my builder to go to Howdens and ask to see
wrapped board and try and find a manufacturers name of contact details.

Anyway it looks like Bushboard may be the answer, and as soon as Muppet
Furniture Industries deliver my new Franke Divida sink next Sunday, I will
get down to my local friendy kitchen shop with the sink and check out the
Bushboard samples.

Also Bushboard offer a free sample service, I wish MFI could do that..

Many thanks once again

Duncan

Hi Duncan,

Watch out for the depth, MFI is 616.

You will need a double post formed board cut down to get the width you need
MFI carcass's are 575mm deep, add a door to that at 18mm plus a slam buffer
at 3mm you will only have a 3mm overhang,

MFI top overhang on carcass is 41mm, normal carcass is 570 so overhang is
30mm.

Bushboard is a good manufacturer.

MFI guy was telling you half the truth. 4m worktops are a pain to
transport. The delivery drivers end up damaging the 3m ones regularly
enough they'd be forever replacing the 4m ones.

They only weigh 60KG max, how much do you weigh?

In real weights about 14 stone. I think that roughly translates to
about 100KG.

We are talking 38mm worktop here BTW.

Maybe I picked up a marble one by mistake
