Of course they are not. It is not generally the position of the
Petitions Committee to support, or unsupport, the intent of a petition.

And only in Westminster Hall (which is where usually backbench MPs go to
get something off their chest that's not important enough for the main
chamber).

5th September is some way off, too (it's the first day back after the
Summer Recess.

"The Committee has decided that the huge number of people signing this
petition means that it should be debated by MPs. ...It is now too late
for the rules to be changed retrospectively. It will be up to the
Government to decide whether it wants to start the process of agreeing a
new law for a second referendum...."

So, the debate cannot trigger a second referendum, but the level of
support for the motion could provide the remain MPs with an argument
that there should be one.
