Washing machine info ... ?
"It's only a bloody washing machine" says the missus. "Much less complicated
than those amplifier thingies that you work on all day !" Ha ! It's a Hotpoint WMA64. Drum motor is not running, wash, rinse or spin. Probably just brushes but the motor on this model is right underneath the drum, and I really couldn't be fagged to try and get to it tonight to check, after the day I've had with my car broken down, my son's car insisting to him that it's overheating, when it clearly isn't, and a whole cartload of other stuff to make me tear my hair. Just as an 'in case of problems' does anyone know of a site that has free downloads of service info for domestic appliances such as this ? Cheers Arfa |

Cheers Arfa I don't know about manuals, but http://www.buyspares.com/ provide a video showing how to do the replacement. But they do warn to check the type of motor before ordering, and there are several subscripts to the WMA64 model number. Chris |

Not manuals I'm afraid but I have done some faultfinding on a recent Hotpoint (not WMA64) using tips and advice found on the diynot forums. There are a few in the trade there and there's usually enough advice been passed around to fault find most stuff. http://www.diynot.com/forums/ Searching with google (my I hate to say that these days) or bing using: 'Hotpoint WMA64 site:diynot.com' gets a healthy number of useful looking hits. 'Hotpoint WMA64 repair' will get any not on diynot but I find the advice there hard to beat. -- fred it's a ba-na-na . . . . |

Provided all goes well today, I'll try and get a proper squint at it tonight. Even if it's not the motor, I doubt it will be anything serious on the control board. Bad relay or bad joints on the bottom of one or some such. At least the board is mounted right up at the top where you can get at it and it's not anywhere near any water, and it's exactly the sort of stuff that I work on to component level for the day job, so not intimidated by it at all ... :-) Arfa |
