The industrious buggers have been making nests in the stakes of my solar
lights.

Sorted now - I have cleaned them and put ant powder in them.

I too am having this issue but they are also inside the lights causing damage. I've lost 4 lights so far to them nesting and packing larva in the electrical parts.
I will try the powder in the steaks today.

Trouble is if you seal them up so no ants can get in,
the water that gets sucked in due to the things heating
up and cooling down when wet, can't get out.

Ant repellent powder inside works better.

simple illogic. It's not hard to have gaps that let water out but don't admit ants. Rod as usual.

Charles's Law with a fixed volume?

Yeah, it’s the temperature change that tends to suck in water
if you don’t have a perfect airtight seal and then there is no
way for the water to get out if you try to make it ant tight.

Ant repellent powder inside works better.

If you're stupid enough to permit no water escape, of course you'll have a problem. Why do you write so much brainless junk?

Those who want slavery should have the grace to name it by its proper
name. They must face the full meaning of that which they are advocating
or condoning; the full, exact, specific meaning of collectivism, of its
logical implications, of the principles upon which it is based, and of
the ultimate consequences to which these principles will lead. They must
face it, then decide whether this is what they want or not.

Ayn Rand.
