Can a 150w outside PIR light be upgraded to a 300w
Hi guys
I purchased the following outside light a couple of months ago https://www.screwfix.com/prods/99280...loodlight-150W I am now wishing I had opted for the 300w version. Can I just upgrade the bulb to a 300w or will there be some internal differences? Thanks |

You can try a 300watt bulb but the light fitting might only be built for a
maximum of 150watt which means the fitting will start to melt. check to see if it states maximum 150watt. "diy-newby" wrote in message ... Consequently I was right it front of it & very close. Whilst testing it & adjusting the switches it bloody near set my fleece alight. These things give off a lot of heat. -- Dave - The Medway Handyman www.medwayhandyman.co.uk 01634 717930 07850 597257 |

Thanks There is no faster way of burning money than to fit a half kilo-watt electric fire on the outside of you house, and letting the squirrels decide when to turn it on. :-) |

Never mind. Whilst on the topic of PIR lights I am trying to find a white PIR light that can be fitted to the outside wall but angled so the light is pointing directly downwards. Most of the current ones are fancy (not the old square / rectangular lamps) and cannot be angled directly down. Can only seem to find the black ones. |

No. In addition to the other comments, a 300W bulb is longer. -- Andrew Gabriel [email address is not usable -- followup in the newsgroup] |

Can I just upgrade the bulb to a 300w or will there be some internal differences? Thanks As other people have said, 300W & 500W bulbs are a different length to the 75W & 150W kind. However, if you bought the similar 300W light fitting model from Screwfix, you'd probably (only probably) find that they use the same backplate, which would at least make the new one easier to fit. |
