Dent in Microbore
Hi,
I'm sorry if this is an idiot question but ... I've currently got a plasterer in doing the bathroom, for which I've removed the radiator. The said plasterer has managed to bend the microbore so there's a significant dent in it. I've straightened it out but there is still a significant 'kink'. Besides being annoyed, should I be concerned about this before pressurising the heating (Combi/sealed system). Just trying to prevent an idiot mistakes on my behalf. Thanks for any advice. Cheers, JohnH |

I've straightened it out but there is still a significant 'kink'. Microbore is a softer copper than the usual 15mm tube so shouldn't have come to any harm. If you got a length of steel rod of the internal diameter and put a taper on it you might be able to make it look better by gently tapping it in - using some heat on the pipe. If there's room you could also cut off and replace using a end feed solder coupler. -- *Am I ambivalent? Well, yes and no. Dave Plowman London SW To e-mail, change noise into sound. |

Its about ten times harder to fit a compression fitting to microbore than it is to solder it. Every one I did on my oil pipes leaked. All needed gunk added Leave it. If its not leaking. If whatever it feeds doesn't work, you will have to replace it, but if its only kinked a little it will still pass water. Cheers, JohnH Thanks very much chaps. Knocking it out a bit as Dave suggested looks fine and rads heating up nicely! Thanks again! Cheers, JohnH |

Heh heh - I'd call it metal working. Unless you consider knocking a dent out of a panel on the car bodging too. -- *Husbands should come with instructions Dave Plowman London SW To e-mail, change noise into sound. |
