Default replacement leaf springs for trailer

Does anybody have any sugestions as to where i might find a
replacement leaf spring for an old box trailer?

or perhaps a site that lists all leaf spring measurements so that i
can see if they match some sort of car?

I have been offered a free trailer but when went to pick it up found
that a spring is broken. Am trying to see if it is feasable to repair
it or if it would be cheaper to either buy a different second hand one
or replace the leaves with the indespension type units which i can
easily buy.

I am looking for a spring 1.5 inches wide, 18 inches from bolt centre
to centre with a radius in the centre or around 6 inches

A good starting place would be your local scrap yard (cars). Plenty of
cars / light commercials use leaf springs. Take the old one with you as a
pattern.

If you can't find a matching spring consider a complete rear suspension
unit as some of them (Peugeot / Citroen etc.) are only fixed by four bolts.

Long time since I messed with leaf springs .. (used indespension units
on all recent builds) .. back in the days when I read Practical
Mechanics - there used to be firms that specialised in repairing leaf
springs ... try a google ?

If you don't want to crawl around a scrap yard, most agricultural
engineers will be used to fixing these - loads of farm kit still has
leaf springs.

I just did a simple Google ... and in 10 sec it returned 45,000
entries ... the first one is a UK firm that states it can provide
spares or rebuild any leaf spring ...
www.frmspares.co.uk/springs.aspx

so plenty of companies out there

I've done that. All the places i could find have got emails waiting
for them!

I will try a couple of local agricultural places.
