distance between lights and wash-basin

Wife has bought a vanity unit with an accompanying mirror unit which she
wants fitting above sink. The mirror unit has two recessed light fittings
pointing down, a bit like the low voltage spotlight units you fit into
ceilings. What would be the minimum safe distance between the wash basin and
the lights?

TIA

If they are 12 volt with a proper transformer they should be ok anywhere.
Not so sure if they use an electronic transformer.

Is this in a bathroom, or a bedroom?

Hmmm. Is this a jocular way of saying that the distance does not matter and
that the mirror can be fitted very low in relation to the taps?

No, sorry, it was a jaundiced reference to the current Mrs. Bacon.
