Default Panasonic NV-HD660 video fixed ;-)

Hi all,

Just thought I'd share the good news in that I've just fixed our old
Panasonic NV-HD660 video recorder (again) [1]

It was giving random error codes and shutting down .

I took it's lid off and tried it it sounded like a motor was trying to
load / unload the casette but something was slipping (it would work
now and again).

[1] Luckily I had repaired this fault before (poor design) and had a
couple of spare nylon drive dogs sitting in a bag on top on the
machine from last time ;-)

I removed all the cables between the main board and transport mech,
flipped the mech over and removed the motor assy. I removed the drive
worm then the (split) drive dog. I cleaned the spindle and fitted a
new drive dog and re-assembled the machine.

During the strip-down I found a broken piece of plastic and a spring,
which matched up with a piece of plastic still hanging from the rhs of
the chassis. Using some 'special' cyno glue and some fibre washers I
repaired the part and re-fitted it into the machine.

All seems ok .. fingers crossed .. only one spare drive dog left now!

All the best ..

T i m
