Just something we all know, that value of having more than just enough.
It sucks when you have only enough stock to make a part in your lathe. Needed to use all
1.52 or so inches of some round stock I had today. That extra operation of turning it around vs just drilling, boring, profiling and parting added extra time to what should have been a quicky. I'm getting better at dialing in that 4 jaw independent with practice. This is my on topic post of the day. Wes -- The only thing Obama has fixed is Carter's reputation. |

Well, at least you can do that, as opposed to "nope, can't be done, better go get 12 more feet" which really eats up time for the unskilled. So consider all the time you saved on travel... -- Cats, coffee, chocolate...vices to live by |

(I learned this, setting up roll turning lathes with 108" swing and a jogging speed of two to four MINUTES per revolution.) 1. Revolve the work through one revolution..noting the TOTAL swing of the indicator needle. Bring the spindle to a halt at the MIDPOINT of the swing and ZERO the dial to the needle. 2. Revolve spindle to bring jaw one to be "on the plunger". Adjust jaw one and jaw three to ZERO the needle again. 3 Rotate 1/4 turn and adjust jaws two and four to re-zero needle. Job is done! /QUOTE Bob |
