What is this??? Gunner should know
 
Ok I found a free snow blower big old simplicity and in the shed was these
things. they look like some sort of German air tight containers.

so I grabbed them. Anyone have a use???

Looks like 105mm tank or howitzer shell storage containers.

Looks like a container for either an artillery round or the powder charge

for the German equivalent of a 4" gun.

Idunno about having a use for it/them, but it does look like it would be
something you'd store, ferinstance, flares, in on a lifeboat or similar.
I'd bet on them being watertight (assuming any seals are present and
undamaged) but wouldn't count on airtight.

They look like mortar round storage cans.

They ought to be great for welding rod.

I want to say they're mortar cans. Must be good for keeping belongings
watertight. Wonder what they're doing in a shed in CT.

Probably the same as my dozen or so. Filled with welding rod of
various types. If Grant ever manages to get me the ones he scrounged
up..Ill need more.
