How to identify a metal and age of a piece

I have purchased a set of measuring canisters. They look antique and possibly made of pewter.
They have stamped letters around the top and an emblem stamped on the bottom.
The one emblem looks like an angel standing on a rock playing a horn.
Any ideas what it is or where it is from?

Try googling "Pewter hallmark" and look at the images. There are some
close to your description and no doubt will lead to some forums that
will be able to help you.
