As has been pointed out, the US Constitution and the BOR are unique in that it recognizes basic human rights as having been bestowed by the Creator. The documents expressly forbid government to infringe on those rights. The 2nd Amendment puts some teeth in it.

Some of you apparently think that's not the way it should be, just because every other nation accepts the dictates of their government. That's just too ****ing bad. We happen to think our nation's founders got it right.

History shows that nations settle at the balance between rights and
restrictions that their people deserve.

The right to vote is recent in most of the world:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_suffrage

"Aboriginal Canadians were not allowed to vote until 1960."

United Kingdom: "Universal suffrage for all men in 1918 (in national
elections)."

"By 1830, the vast majority of [US] states, including all states in
the West, had universal male suffrage, regardless of property
ownership or class."

The Great State of Oregon's liberals just passed a bill to force
ballots on every registered adult, which now seems to include illegal
aliens. Last year, they passed a law giving known illegal aliens the
best in-state rate for college tuition. And the Oregon PERS is giving
retirees up to 145% of their working wage as a retirement benefit.

WTF,O?
