There is a "lost generation" of university grads who cannot find jobs.
Do you know that?

Yes, but liberal arts was never a solid ticket to future employment.
Assume you own a gas station. A person with a masters in liberal arts
(or hell, even an engineering degree) needs a job. You have an opening
for a general helper at the station. He comes to work for you. Do you
pay him for that master's degree or do you pay him to pump gas and
clean windshields?

You touch on an interesting point: For most jobs, hiring and salary
depend on what you're worth... to someone else. Your own opinion of what
you're worth may cause you to _ask_ for a higher position or salary, but
unless you can somehow convince someone else to share your opinion, that
opinion has no effect. Just "feeling good about yourself" isn't enough
when you have to deal with TheRealWorld(tm).

Some 'advanced Thinkers' are of opinion that anyone who differs from
the conventional opinion must be in the right. This is a delusion; if
it were not, truth would be easier to come by than it is. There are
infinite possibilities of error, and more cranks take up unfashionable
errors than unfashionable truths. -- Bertrand Russell
