Meteor

No coincidence, they were not on the same orbit or track.

In fact - they were almost headed for a head-on if the Russian was
slower and the large one angled more northward.

The Russian one flew in on a north-west to south-east path burning a
hole in some ice and massive disruption on the way.

The asteroid flew in from south east of Australia diagional over the
Indian ocean and then out into space until next time.

The two were in two hemi-spheres, and going in almost opposite
directions. Such is life.
