I quit going to yard sales. On the rare occasion I find something good they
always want more than a brand freaking new one. I quit selling at yard
sales too. Ask $20 for something worth $100, and folks want it for 50¢.

Awesome. Most people would not know what it is. It takes an agile mind

You must live in a ritzy snobbish area. Around here...stuff can be had
quite reasonable. There are folks of course who try to peddle
something for Walmart + 20%. They don't sell anything. In a couple
weeks, the prices come down.

Wonderful. More for me. I'm going to start "Pickin" the local ones. I
just look for "home runs", and here in smaller town America, there is a good
chance to pick up on people's "junk" that does very nicely on ebay to the
city slickers. I might even start doing "cleanouts", where I'll go in, and
clean out a garage or attic for free, and I get to keep everything. Some
people want that so they don't have to deal with Aunt Martha's "stuff".

I just listed the gas cap. Will see what it brings. The kit is $160 from a
retailer.

I rarely go to garage sales anymore, also, but for a different
reason. I need to get stuff on a bigger scale, I prefer at least one
truckload of stuff at a time. This is not always possible, of course,
but I try to aim for that, and going to garage sales is not as
economical. There is always something to list and fill my time from a
few last big purchases, it is a better use of time than garage
sales. But I always have a special place in my heart for garage sales,
and I agree that great deals abound. You just need to be able to
notice them.

Ah, to be young and healthy and strong again. Enjoy it while you got it. I
am going to start stockpiling stuff, and having a yard sale or two a year.
It suits my time frame, and I'm not looking at it as an income, that being
the difference between us. What I make is play money. That is, I get to go
play. My next goal is a $500 pool cue.

Still puny waiting for results from these tests, two docs in Vegas next
week. Youth is surely wasted on the young.

bargain.

Yard sales as a means to "get stuff out of here" are one thing.
As a means to "raise the money for the rent" - another thing.

Did not know about cue maker. Here's an example of what I want: Linen wrap
(continuous thread) Points in the wood, light color, inlays. Can be other
brand, just have this look.

In case anyone has one kicking around.

Nice find! My best yard sale to ebay score was a kick starter mechanism
that replaces the rope pull starter on Briggs type engines. Paid $1 for
it. Some time later, saw one on eBay, pristine NOS condition in original
box, sell for over $500. Whoa. So I cleaned mine up best I could and
listed it. Was rather happy with the $250 or so I got for it.

Best yard sale score ever was the set of Anton high precision thick
parallels for $20. New retail is over a grand. I'm keeping those!
