rec.crafts.metalworking, or RCM, as it's known, is a Usenet group. Persons
may post to RCM, using a variety of devices, and usenet readers. Some web
forums like Homeowners Hub, and Stucco company, pretend that Usenet is a web
forum.

Posters: There are several types of people who post to RCM.
* Machinists. The group was originally founded, to provide a forum for
machinsts to discuss machine working. There are a few machinists who use the
forum.
* Wannabees. A few people read and post, who are not machinists. These folks
can be curious, questioning, ammusing, and somtimes clueless.
* Trolls. Some people have no interest in machine work, but only throw
insults, and try to stir up hard feelings.
* Spammers. Some people, or probably robots, advertise products for sale.
Often, these are not related to machine work.

Moderation: This is not a moderated group, but a committee of posters (not
less than five, but not more than 15) can agree by votes on the list to
allow a person to continue posting. If the committee rules against the
poster, there is no enforcement mechanism.

Not all metalworking requires machinery. A lot can be done with
simple hand tools.

Use a filter to drop any message cross posted to more than three
groups and the traffic goes way down, even if they use multiple sock
puppets. Newsproxy, AKA Nfilter can be used to drop those messages for
people who use real NNTP software.
