Sir,

Next time for this purpose you may wish to try a 3/4" bi-metal hole-
saw instead of a drill.

There is considerably less drama on break through with a hole saw.

3/4" is about as small as hole saws come though.

If work-size makes it possible, I prefer to do that size hole with the
work in a 4-jaw chuck in the lathe and using a boring bar.
