Default Pitted hydraulic cylinder rod, cylinder leak

If the pitting is not excessive, it is possible to use emery cloth to smooth the surface so it doesn't damage the seals. the seals will form to the slight depression caused by sanding. I have done this to many rods. It is a common practice, but only if the pitting is not deeper than a couple of thousanths of an inch. It's worth a try.
