The animal kingdom is not close to being a valid example of how the economy works. The world is only a zero sum game on first approximation. In real life innovations increase the quality of life. Instead of the animal kingdom , consider how the world has changed in the last 120 years. The invention of the electric power plants, telephone , automobiles, airplanes, the vacuum tube, the transistor, the computer , the microprocessor, fiber optics, light emitting diodes, digital cameras, global positioning system , all these things increased the quality of life of people.
