As the Supreme Court gets ready to hear oral arguments in a case
Tuesday that could determine if authorities can track U.S.
citizens with GPS vehicle trackers without a warrant, a young
man in California has come forward to Wired to reveal that he
found not one but two different devices on his vehicle recently.

Anyone know under what pretense of authority the feds can attach attach
anything to a private vehicle?

?

It is not a search, is it. :-)

Maybe, maybe not.

Why would a law abiding
citizen care, the extra gas consumption caused by an
extra ounce of vehicle weight? :-)

All law abiding citizens should care about ANY action that the feds do
outside of their delegated authority. That's what I'm challenging -- I
don't think there IS ANY delegated authority for the feds to attach
anything to any private property.

They can track with cameras for cases where they
know laws are being violated, but that is expensive and
they are saving taxpayers money, we should be glad. :-)

Under what authority can they track with cameras?

You are getting warmer, Grasshoppah! This is the point. They don't need
any authority. As in earlier decades, the man with the biggest gun makes
the rules. Today, it's only slightly different.
