I engaged in a long..very long conversation on politics with a black
aquaintence of mine. College educated, got out of the military in
1984..and doesnt own a computer with internet access.

And a Liberal Democrat.

I was utterly shocked and bemused by the utter ignorance he spewed when
discussing his beloved Democrat party.

He denied that Dr King was a Republican, denied that the KKK had been a
Democrat founded and run for 150 yrs organization and so on and so
forth.

I told him that Id get him a computer, put him on the internet and he
could check out what he Thinks he knows for himself.

He declined the offer and asked me if I would like to be a Democrat?

I told me that Id like to be castrated by an electric ice crusher just a
bit more.

And I wasnt a racist, bigot or homophobe so couldnt possible be a
Democrat.

Which sorta noplused him for a bit.

His ignorance is simply more proof that blacks are utterly ignorant of
actual history. We in our discussion, covered Africa, Obama, the Civil
War, the 3 Civil Rights Acts etc etc..and he was not only utterly wrong
on each and every belief system..but did not wish to learn how and why
he was wrong.

I like the guy..but his ignorance of fact and history..was extremely
troubling

Your friend does not want to disrupt his belief system. It's uncomfortable
for some to admit to themselves that they are wrong about anything and
consciously or unconsciously block anything that conflicts with their
beliefs. Others appreciate refining their understanding and seek truth no
mater where it leads. I believe that most conservatives were once liberals
but discovered the underlying truths in society and science, Casual
conservatives might have simply been raised in a conservative atmosphere.
Active liberals might know these truths but are driven by ulterior motives.
Casual liberals simply exist in their created comfort zone.

You were once a liberal I'd bet! I was.

Actually...no..I wasnt.

But my parents and I walked with Dr. King in Detroit and were spit on by
Democrats...so I knew which way was the right way from that point on.

I like it, Tawm! In a nutshell.

Or grew up and learned how to run their own lives.

Jim, that should be "and grew up...".

I think it's fair to say that the most outspoken liberals that we know have
some type of nefarious vision that they feel will benefit them at the
determent of the rest of society. Most conservatives we know are
experienced with actually working for the benefit of society. The "gimme"
people disgust me!

Whats scary is that when the Liberals start singing their song..its to
the music of the Internationale..and one can hear machine guns being
cocked in the backgrounds..as the sounds of backhoes leaving the freshly
dug ditches fades away....
