thin wall tubing (0.005") wall???
 

Out of lurk mode,

I've got stuck into this RC Helicopter hobby, and its way too much fun
asides from the crashing to the Earth part, or what we call
"unscheduled landings"

To set the stage, here's a video of my "best" attemtps at having fun.
Compared to the sponsered pilots I fly like a pile of beetle dung.

Also, just to get the idea across, the heli has a 5 foot diameter
rotor disk. The rotors are 190grams of carbon fiber traveling with a
tip speed of 380mph. The motor is a 30% nitromethane, 50% methanol,
20% OIL burning 0.9cuin engine producing nearly 3.5hp..

ITs a LOT of fun, and mechanical too boot, with not a piece of wood in
sight!

Anyway, one thing that bums me out is a crash, like this:

In the above, an important bit fell off in flight, resulting in
backflips.. sigh.

Anway, to the point of this post. Does anyone know where to find
amazingly thin wall tubing?

Specifiaclly I'm looking for

0.3125" OD x 0.005" wall stainless in 36inch lengths (yes 0.005" wall)
0.866" (22mm?) OD x 0.02" wall alluminium in 36inch lengths
1" OD x 0.02" wall aluminum in 36inch lengths.

Asides from $120 main blades, the most common parts to replace after
an unscheduled landing is the tail boom and driveshaft. For instance,
the 1" OD x 34inch long tail boom costs $21.00. It is black anodized
with a few simple holes punched in it, but it galls me to buy
somehting so light for soo much. :)

The driveshaft is $22.00, am I just being cheap?

BTW, I recomened that anyone intersted in this hobby RUN AWAY! Its
the combination of Gambling, death defying, and self adminstering your
own happy pills all rolled up into one complicated mechanical wet
dream. (IE Lots of fun, somewhat expensive,and very dangerous if you
hit yourself with it!)

On a similar topic, which stainless steel has these characteristics:

#1 Very slightly magnetic ( NiB magnet just hangs on to it)

#2 Very poor conductor of heat (Glowing red 3 inches from the fingers
that hold it, and I feel only the slightest amount of heat.)

#3 When heated to just the dullest of red, it blues easily (Very
attractive actually..)

#3 Able to drill / punch a small bolt hole

#4 Strong enough not to buckle during torque transmission. (I'm
guesing any formula will do, given the dimensions and the few
once-inches of torque being transmitted.

Ok, WOW are they expensive.. My $22 drive shafts (finished and
assembled, with machined alluminum splined ends) would cost $83.61
each and that's just for the raw material cut to length......

Have you considered titanium? It sounds exotic, but
I'm told boiler tube in about this thickness and length is a
standard item.
