ot - is teranews off line? anyone else use that
posting from google this time
I ususally read/post through teranews.com - tonight, can't find server, and a ping of teranews.com fails, as does a ping of the ip address (66.150.105.47) - presuming this is a real failure, what other really cheap news servers are out there - I don't need 20 gigs per month - maybe I would use 1 meg per month - since I don't access binary groups - is there anyone on a teranews account who is getting access tonight? what other servers might I add to my suite so I don't need to use this horrible google interface ( guess it's better than nothing) note - don't reply to me using the email in the header, I don't monitor that account - maybe this is of some general interest to the group |

posting from google this time well, teranews is back - looks like it was off line for a while, now I'm resynchronizing messages - we shall see what happens - it still might be nice to have another free source of NTTP messages. |

Teranwes was advertised a a free NNTP server that is used to test NNTP software and hardware. The same company has other NNTP servers with monthly fees. -- http://improve-usenet.org/index.html If you have broadband, your ISP may have a NNTP news server included in your account: http://www.usenettools.net/ISP.htm Sporadic E is the Earth's aluminum foil beanie for the 'global warming' sheep. |

I just moved to Teranews three days ago, for the same reason, Verizon dropped all but the "Big Eight", and I was beginning to think that I was doing something wrong. I guess I'll just have to wait for them to get their act together. Jim Chandler |
