Looking for, Cast Iron Hack-Saw Cut-Off Kit.

Greetings,

I remember, 45 years ago, in my high school machine shop, they offered cast iron kits. Some were a drill press or a hacksaw blade
cut-off saw. There may have been others, but I am looking the the hacksaw blade cut-off kit.

Do any of you know where to get one? I have searched the internet, but can't find every hole out there.

I've never seen that, have you seen the Gingery books offered by Lindsay?
With those, you have to cast the iron yourself.

The funny thing about what you wrote, our high school got a gas fired furnace to melt metal. We made mostly 'cutting oil bowls' out
of aluminum.

No, these kits were already cast. We got to machine them.

Thanks for a good bit of information.

Looking for, Cast Iron Hack-Saw Cut-Off Kit.

Ten - twelve years ago I got a set of rough cast raising and planishing
stakes from these people.

Casting Specialties
W 51 N 545 Struck Ln., Cedarburg, WI 53012
414/377-4361

The flier they had in the box had a hacksaw kit listed.

The company was a little squirrelly. I got the impression that they were
running it out of their basement and having parts cast as they needed them.
It was probably a lucrative business back when high schools still had shop
classes but now it's all but dead.

I don't know it they are still in business, but it is worth a try.

There is a casting kit available from a supplier in the UK, but
with the weak dollar its expensive and shipping is expensive

Wasn't there an Amish foundry that did cast iron mentioned on RCM? I
wonder if they would be willing to work from prints.

I have one of the Power Hacksaw kits from Casting Specialities. I got it in
1995 and it has been seasoning under my workbench since then. I'd be
willing to sell it.
