They are stupid, irreverant, and have bad hallatosis!
But - for Pete sake (and mine as well?) LEAVE them alone.
Lest you find yourself at their level.

And it that's not enough,

Well, I never actually SAW it happen. I have seen buildings in a pile on
the ground after a fire, but didn't actually SEE them fall. I saw videos of
The World Trade Centers, but I didn't really SEE it in person. To some,
that is enough to negate the remotest possibility of it ever happening.

PS: I didn't SEE The Hindenberg blow up, so that's another one I think may
be a questionable conspiracy.

I watched a burning tank truck full of JP4 burn just outside the
entrance to Carin Airfield in the early '70s. Some idiot ran the stop
sign and hit the tanker. I was about two miles away at the time, and
saw the fireball coming down the hill towards Daleville.

A friend of mine was the base photographer, and he had keys to every
gate. He stopped and waved for me to get in his car, and we took off
the back way. We came out to the blocked entrance just as the fire
trucks arrived, with just water. They had to call the foam unit from
the airfield to keep from spreading the fire.

By the time they arrived and were set up there wasn't much left. They
never found any sign of the tanker driver who died in the fire. The
only thing left was a small part of the rear axle of the truck's cab,
and the rear bell of the tank that had separated and rolled away from
the fire. half the load of fuel ran into a ditch, and several miles
downhill into a creek. It took a long time to put out all the fires
that caused. A lot of asphalt had to be replaced, because all that was
left was the gravel.

BTW, what's BBW Rosie been up to lately? Or down on?

I don't want to know.

Steve ;-)

ntpd is available for Windows and is a great way to keep a computer to
a precise time.

I use ntpd everywhere, on all Windows and Linux computers.

I seldom ever start an OT crosspost. Very seldom.
Feel free to spend the time checking the OT multigroup posts and who
started them and you will note its normally about 3 individuals, not
based in rec.crafts.metalworking. All three of whom are in my kill
file. At least one of them morphs regularly using made up charectors.

On the other hand, I will respond to anything that catches my fancy,
and I dont pay attention to how many groups are in the crosspost
list. I like a good flame war/lLiberal/Euro/****tard bashing as much
as anyone does.

The moment a thread goes west, feel free to mark that thread "Ignore"
and pay it no mind. No one is holding a weapon to anyones head
forcing anyone to to follow the threads. Reading them is voluntary, as
is keeping track of them, as is participating in them.
Unless you are running a 300 baud modem, the time needed to download
even the headers is moot. The time needed to make a two button click
to "Ignore thread" is moot.

Ive killfiled a large number of people. Not because they actually post
stuff on topic, but because they NEVER do and are ****tards in the
first degree. Not because they enjoy a good standup knockdown everyso
often. Hell..there are regulars here whom are my political opposites
in every way, and not shy about it and frankly, ****tards on most
subjects, but I read every one of their posts, simply because they
occasionally do post on topic stuff. Even if its wrongheaded at
times.

Shrug

Gunner

"Pax Americana is a philosophy. Hardly an empire.
Making sure other people play nice and dont kill each other (and us)
off in job lots is hardly empire building, particularly when you give
them self determination under "play nice" rules.

Think of it as having your older brother knock the **** out of you
for torturing the cat." Gunner

I set my reader to post only to the group I saw it in. Keeps me from
propagating troll bait. Some posts are just too hard to resist when the
temp out side is in single digits and I'm bored.

You don't need any software for XP, it's built in. I've used

XP synchronizes only weekly, which is woefully inadequate. NTP daemon
keeps almost perfect time, usually within 0.02 seconds. It
synchronizes as often as necessary according to a clever algorithm
that also accounts for machine clock drift and automatically corrects
it.

Xp time synchronization is a joke.

My computer is rarely off more than a second. Since it's not a
server, or lab time & frequency standard that is close enough to read
newsgroups. This is the office computer where I track the computers,
parts & software fore my volunteer project. Some computers are off a
lot more within a week, and need to be reset quite often.
