New, as of yesterday, too. I keep finding keepers in the Motivational
Quote of the Day emails, too.
Free from http://www.quotationspage.com/mqotd.html 4 quotes per day.

eBay price raises, here is how it affects pricing:

For an old car, selling price $1,300, old fees were $33.00, new will
be $40.82.

For a $5 item, old fees = 66 cents, new = 78 cents, an 18% hike.

For a $25 item, old fee = $1.31, new = $2.18, a 66% hike under their
new "lower fees" banner.

Unfortunately, all these fees are passed along to us buyers.

P.S: I'm not voting for Monica Lewinski's Ex-boyfriend's Wife, either.

Why wait till some certain date? If you don't like EBay's prices and/or

While I will not fully discontinue use of ebay, I will definitely sell
less, and buy less, from now on. It will not be limited to one day.
I do not like the changes and the deception.

However, deals like this are hard to pass up:

For the half dozen ebay purchases and one sale I've made over the past
years, they've been good. I know a lot of folks seem to think craig's
list is great, but I've not found much on it, and the time I tried
selling something there I got nothing out of a month of listing and
subsequently sold the item in a week on ebay. The "good old days" of
ebay are gone, but it still has it's uses.

Each has its uses. One size does not fit all. I haven't been able to damn
near GIVE away a good truck rack on Craigslist for two months now.

I needed a live in property manager. We went through dozens of applicants,
and all flunked out for one reason or another. One took the position, then
cussed me out a week before starting for "not respecting him enough". I did
manage to find a couple with clean records and LEO experience, and so far so
good.

It's a jungle out there. There's good and bad things.

What are you going to use it for?

I was at an auction last year where you could have got a horizontal mill

mill too.

Did you mean sellers? If I understand correctly, reserves cost the seller
more that no reserves. Of course making the guaranteed profit on s&h seems
to be the common trick.

I can't believe that, other than firearms, eBay doesn't have serious
competition. It just seems un-American.

We should all write to them to tell them as much. I will be on the
18th. They grossed seven billion last year (netting over a billion)and
now they're turning around to screw the very people who made them
rich? UFR!

I didn't know (until yesterday) they had a 25% interest in Craigslist.

If the seller sets a higher start or higher reserve, then the buyer
pays, if he still wants it at the higher price. If it is the auction
competition that sets the price, then the buyer isn't going to bid more
because the seller fees are higher!! It really boils down to the fact
that the selling price is determined by the buyer and higher seller fees
aren't going to affect that. The buyer doesn't pay more.

For the millions of items sold on Buy It Nows, the prices will be
higher and the buyer will pay the extra. If eBay gets too pricy, the
wholesale price we're paying will get too close to local pricing and
we'll switch to the local vendors.

As for auction prices, too many people get auction fever and pay way
too much as it is. That probably won't change. Higher fees only hurt
the wholesalers and us chea^H^H^H^Hfrugal buyers.

Any proof that I have sold even one computer? You don't because
there isn't any. If you had anything to back you up, or you would have
filed charges against me. You are full of your usual lies and BS.

I give the computers away. I pay for the gasoline needed to pick
them up, but i expect them to pick up the completed systems so I don't
have to pay for transportation twice. I also repair computers for
veterans for free, if I have the parts. If they need something I don't
have, i tell them where they can buy it, and the prices from each
source.

Now tell us what you do for America's Veterans? Trying to form a
union won't help at all, you old loser.

Only if the seller accepts less that they wanted. If the seller has

you willing to accept less for what you list, so the buyer doesn't pay

The tine fee increase is more than justified by the number of people that
could view
the auction listing.. The ebay price is about equivalent to a newspaper ad
but millions of people'
worldwide can view the auction.
Or the sellers could use a local auction house where fees are 30 to 40
percent of the sale.

Small, rhetorical comment:-

What would it cost sellers per item to run a physical shop?

What would it cost sellers per item to run their own internet shop?

If it's less, the answer is clear.
If it's more the answer is also clear

More, in both cases. BUT, you forgot that there are other venues
available to the sellers, so eBay is simply shooting themselves in the
foot. By alienating their entire base with an unnecessary price hike,
they'll likely kill themselves. After the raise, they'll be like the
$2,000 hooker. Hey, she's beautiful, but there are a lot of other
ladies out there with almost the same traffic (cringe) and much better
prices. Once the bailout starts, I'd sure hate to own eBay stock.

Has anyone checked their stock prices lately? I'll bet they're already
down quite a bit. Ah, here is it. Down from $40 in Oct 07 to $27 this
month. When did they release the news about their price "drops"?
http://quote.morningstar.com/Quote/Q...px?ticker=EBAY Click the
year ticker graph. They're headed for the toilet.
