As happened in the not too distant past; during the
Carter years, gold was over $800. Dunno when exactly it
went back down to ~$400, but I'll bet you anything the
people who bought at $800 sure know.

True but consider that it's value neved did go to zero like Enron
stock, K-Mart stock, the air lines stock ... you get the idea.

For grins, do a spread sheet claculation of what your investmen
would return if you had bought one ounce of silver every week for
the last 40 years v investing the same $ ammount in a mutual
fund. Of course there is always the lottery.

In the last analysis, the third world may have it right --
nothing beats raising a bunch of big stong kids for security in
your old age.
