Folgers new and improved instant coffee appeared a few years
ago. It went from one of my favorite blends to the worst in
one fell swoop. It was even worse than the cheap house
brands I quite often purchase. I vowed at the time to never
buy Folgers again and so far I have kept it. Free wouldn't
make it taste any better IMO...

"Folgers gourmet coffee" is a contradiction in terms. It's not unlike
"giant shrimp", and "military intelligence"

My standard "home" morning coffee is made from Trader Joe's Columbian
beans with a sprinkling of their dark roast beans, ground moments before
brewing.

My standard "home" morning coffee is made from Trader Joe's Columbian
beans with a sprinkling of their dark roast beans, ground moments before
brewing.

My favorite blend was some cheaparse decaf from Wally World mixed half
and half with the Sumatran beans from Costco. Costco stopped selling
the Sumatrans, damn them, and their columbian is a weak substitute.
Millstone sumatran is burnt; Kivu is decent but still weak in
comparison with the Costco beans. I can't drink much coffee any more
and it's really ****ing me off that I can't find a decent bean to
grind for under $12/lb. sigh

If you really want good coffee, roast raw beans using a popcorn popper
- instructions on the net. Potential for a little metalworking
content depending on what you do for a roaster. Freshly roasted beans
taste much better than most of what we can buy here in central PA. If
you have a local roaster who roasts daily, it may be different where
you live.

My morning cup is a cup of house brand instant from Wally World.

One morning while I was occupied I made my usual cup of Wally instant.

While I worked, I drank my coffee....I was 2/3 done with the cup
before I noticed that I had forgotten to put the coffen in and had
been drinking hot water.

I thought that to be very funny....and revealing as to what taste
delight the house brand of Walmart instant is.
