homemade beader / bead-roller?

greets all.
i'm looking to 'slap together' a little sheetmetal beader,
something to roll simple ribs and offsets. probably 1mm (0.04")
sheet is what i'm likely to work with .. 1.5mm/0.06" tops.

i'll admit to never actually having used one myself.. i'm wondering
how 'rigid' is rigid when it comes to bead rolling. can't imagine
needing a throat any deeper than, say, 6".

lacking experience, i'm wondering if adding some capacity
to either the sheet thickness (2mm?) or the throat (10") would quickly
make this an enormous machine (therefore, out of my league).

look'n for tips at this point. oh, and the beader would be
hand-operated/powered.

thanks,
-tony

The 18" throat model looks an awful lot like the harborfreight bead
roller which is $190 with more dies, and goes on sale frequently for
$90-100.

Cool website, by the way.

HF had theirs on sale, with 7 roller sets for under $90.00 a while back.
At that price it was hardly worth attempting to make one, especially
when you consider the expense of obtaining the roller sets and gears.
