Shop press springs???
I have recently built myself a shop press, I'm looking for a source of
return springs for the hydraulic bottle jack. Any ideas where to look, free sources would be nice but will settle for a company that sells them. Thanks -- A7N8X-Deluxe, AMD XP2500+ (Un-locked) 2x256mb Crucial PC3200 DDR ram Palit-Daytona Ti4200/64M AGP |

Big box stores have some in hardware section. Also look for garage door
springs as well as fence and gate stuff. Shop press springs???
Try looking in any junkyard at older American Cars, most have stout
tension springs on the hood hinges. Probably best to pull the hinges and remove the springs, not the other way around. Failing that go to McMaster Carr online and have them in two days.. |

Big box stores have some in hardware section. Also look for garage door springs as well as fence and gate stuff. Garage door springs would be inexpensive and perfect for the job if you have the length available to mount them, because of the 'caging' wires on modern springs that will keep the two (or three) pieces of the newly broken spring restrained on the unit. I don't care how fast you are, if an uncaged spring breaks and a chunk heads your way, it's impossible to 'Duck And Cover' fast enough. -- Bruce -- -- Bruce L. I am not sure if they would have enough stretch in them though but might be close . New springs should be under 10 bucks a piece . Luck Ken Cutt |
